Blackbaud Database Security
Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation, Inc. was recently notified that Blackbaud®, a provider of cloud software and data management tools widely used by colleges, universities and other nonprofit organizations, was breached in May in a ransomware attack. Blackbaud has been BGC Nassau’s platform for maintaining donor information for over 15 years and has been incident-free from BGC Nassau’s perspective until now.
Blackbaud has informed BGC Nassau that no donor credit card, bank account, or other statutory personally identifiable data was compromised. Blackbaud explained that statutorily sensitive information is encrypted to safeguard against events such as this. Blackbaud has confirmed that biographical information was exposed, which may have included names, dates of birth, address/contact information, relationships and giving history.
