Dear Parents and Community Friends:
In light of the recent COVID-19 health crisis, Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County has appropriately altered our operations practices to 25% capacity in order to safeguard our Club and staff members that enter our facilities. Due to this limited space in our Clubs, enrollment will be contingent upon 2021-2022 Summer Academy attendance, with priority going to those who attended most frequently.
Safety is our guiding principle as we continue to serve our Club members. Our staff will adhere to the following recommended best practices and guidelines:
- Require social distancing: No more than 13 people will be grouped together at any one time. (12 youth and 1 staff). Coverage will allow a distance of 6 feet between individuals. Curriculum will encourage individual activities in a group setting with adequate distancing.
- Enhanced cleaning and sanitization: A professional cleaning service, with additional help from staff, will sanitize the facility each day to include focus on high touch point areas like doorknobs, light switches and faucets.
- Universal precautions will be increased: Staff will ensure that all members (and staff) wash their hands at least every 45 minutes – 1 hour on a regular basis. In addition, handwashing will occur before and after any food service, and at entry into the Club. Masks will be required for all members and staff. In order to assist staff with proper safety supplies, parents will send their child/children to the Club each day with an appropriate mask and individual water bottles. Facilities are outfitted with front desk/wellness station protective barriers to safeguard any close contact between staff and members.
- Perform wellness checks: Upon arrival at the Club, all staff and members will have their temperature taken outside the facility: no one with a temperature greater than 100.6 degrees Fahrenheit will be allowed into the facility. Temperature checks also will be taken at the end of the day when members leave the Club; both temperature checks (beginning of day and end of day) will be logged.
- Ensure proper waiver execution from parents: Each annual enrollment will require parents to execute the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Warning and Waiver Form. This will help provide liability protection for the organization if there should be any virus transmission proven to occur at any of our facilities.
We look forward to continuing to help shape the youth of our community and ensure that all members graduate on time with a plan for the future – even now when that is a challenge for everyone.
In the meantime, please contact us if you have any other questions related to our Club programming. We are thrilled to have the kids in the Clubs!
