When Nassau County commissioners asked David Miller Sr. to create a Boys & Girls Club in Nassau County, he got to work.
David had been a long-time Amelia Island resident and father of four – one son and three triplet daughters – he understood the importance of knowing your children are safe, cared for and directed in positive ways. Family was important to David, and this concern extended beyond his own family and into the community he cared so much about.
This is the story of David Miller and legacy he left behind with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation.

1999
Nassau County leaders recognized the need for a Boys & Girls Club.
2000
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation was formed so funds raised locally would stay in Nassau County and help grow the Clubs.
A temporary Club opened at Yulee Middle School.
2006
Miller Freedom Center opened in Yulee, turning a dream into a permanent home for local kids.

2012
Roberts Learning & Achievement Center opened near Southside Elementary in Fernandina Beach to meet growing community demand.
TODAY
The Foundation owns and maintains both facilities and raises local support, while Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida manages day-to-day Club operations.

The vision took root in Yulee, where the first permanent Club became a home base for opportunity. Today, the Miller Freedom Center offers homework help, leadership programs, arts, sports, and mentoring, all in a place where kids feel supported and inspired.

Roberts Learning & Achievement Center

As our community grew, so did the need. The Roberts Learning & Achievement Center opened near Southside Elementary to welcome more kids and families, providing learning support, technology, character development, and fun every single day.
