Ensuring Kids & Families thrive in Nassau County

Viorica Weldon, Resource Development Committee

Viorica Weldon came to the United States from Romania. She followed a career path into health as a nurse. She’s deeply committed to this community, her family and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation.

In Viorica’s words…

I was born and raised in Romania, and what opened the doors of opportunity for me was education. That’s why I started serving our mission about 13 years ago, when my husband Tom and I were among the first people to set up a booth with wine, telling the people at the Gala about why the wine is worth its price, for it will be a great investment in our children from club /their future and the future of our community. Tom is an engineer, I’m a nurse, but somehow the wine palette in him and the farmer in me managed to cross paths, and bring liquidity to life.

As a family, we donated everything from the wine, our time, tables and our hearts to the cause to help the kid’s future. When I see them, I see the child in me that was offered a chance to come to America, from the middle of nowhere, a little village, in Romania, where I was lucky enough to have a mom committed to help me have a bright future. That’s what we want for these children! A chance for a bright future!

Multumesc (thank you in Romanian) for your service towards a better future for our children and our community. You make it possible through your service to give a chance to children like me, a real chance towards a brighter future; where they too can have a seat at the table and be a contributing member of the society.
